Chronicle director Josh Trank has kept relatively quiet since the debacle surrounding his failure of a Fantastic Four. Now, though, the talented filmmaker is back with Tom Hardy for a biopic about Al Capone called Fonzo, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Fonzo will pick up with the notorious Chicago gangster at the age of 47, as his mind starts to slip into dementia after a decade of imprisonment. Capone’s past comes back to haunt him as he’s forced to reckon with the violence of his youth.
This isn’t exactly Hardy’s first foray into crime drama. The actor followed up 2014’s The Drop with Legend in which he played the Kray twins. Fonzo will be produced by Russell Ackerman and John Schoenfelder for Addictive Pictures along with longtime Tarantino producer Lawrence Bender. Hopefully, Trank can leave the tumult of his past behind him for this project, and take part in the kind of comeback story Hollywood loves so dearly.
