Natalie Portman’s Directorial Debut, A Tale Of Love And Darkness, Picked Up By Focus WorldMovies News Natalie Portman
Natalie Portman’s pet project has its distributor.
Deadline announced today that Focus World has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to A Tale of Love and Darkness, Portman’s feature directorial debut. She also produced and starred in the film and wrote the screenplay, an adaptation of the bestselling Amos Oz memoir about growing up in a Jerusalem wracked by the violence surrounding Israel’s birth. A Tale of Love and Darkness premiered last May at the Cannes Film Festival but took awhile to secure American distribution, likely due to its intensity and the fact that the characters speak mainly Hebrew throughout—effectively making it a foreign film in most viewers’ eyes.
