The Boys Is Amazon’s Highest-Rated Original Series on IMDb

There’s a new caped sheriff in town. According to Forbes, Amazon’s new superhero send-up The Boys has earned not only the best IMDb rating for the streaming service, but also for any superhero show ever made.

That score is an 8.9/10 as of this writing, good for 36th on IMDb’s list of the best shows in TV history. The next highest ranked Amazon original is The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel at 8.7, while Fleabag (Paste’s show of the year so far, as it happens) sits at an 8.6. The next best-scored superhero show is Netflix’s Daredevil, which also rests at 8.6.

If you’re not sure what exactly The Boys is, here’s the official synopsis:

THE BOYS is an irreverent take on what happens when superheroes, who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as Gods, abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. It’s the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about “The Seven,” and their formidable Vought backing.

It’s based on the comics written by Garth Ennis, who also wrote the similar-in-tone Preacher. The show stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid (yes, son of Dennis), Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher and more. It’s produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, who are engaging in some interesting marketing tactics to promote the show of late.

All eight episodes of The Boys are available to stream now. Check out our glowing review of the show here, then check out the trailer below.
